Meet Dr. Reinhard Boehmer

Dr. Boehmer's comprehensive medical training was completed in South Africa, followed by specialist qualifications in Medical Microbiology (Master of Medicine (Pathology) from the University of Cape Town) and a clinical fellowship in the USA.

He further expanded his expertise in Germany, obtaining specialist qualifications in Medical Microbiology, Epidemiology, and Infection Control, as well as Clinical Pathology (Laborarzt) from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. He completed his clinical specialist training in infectious diseases with a specialist degree from the Ludwig Maximilians University, which included training in the UK to round off his clinical expertise.

This triple qualification provides a robust foundation for his diagnostic and clinical acumen.

For over twelve years, Dr. Boehmer has been a vital part of PathCare in Cape Town, one of the largest private pathology practices in the Western Cape, where he has been instrumental in infectious disease diagnostics, teaching, and consulting.

His extensive professional history includes roles as Medical Director of a major private laboratory in Munich and a Senior Consultant at Bogenhausen municipal hospital, a teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich.

He has consistently demonstrated strong managerial and leadership abilities, overseeing laboratory computer system installations, serving on crucial committees like blood transfusion, infection control, and drug formulary, and enhancing diagnostic procedures.

Dr. Boehmer also ran a medical infectious diseases practice in Munich, focusing on patients with serious infectious diseases, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Central to Dr. Boehmer's practice is a profound commitment to ethical standards and patient advocacy. He believes that "in civilized life, law floats in a sea of ethics. Each is indispensable to civilization. Without law, we should be at the mercy of the least scrupulous, without ethics, law could not exist."
