I have over 34 years in the pathology industry encompassing both national and international experience.  Have been employed on five continents. During this time have I not only gained knowledge through clinical experience but have also demonstrated my managerial and leadership ability in the positions I have held.

I joined PathCare in September 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa and have been employed   for over twelve years. Here I was mainly involved in reporting of positive blood cultures, teaching medical doctors and sisters, and consulting doctors about infectious disease problems. Was a member on several antibiotic stewardship medical committees. Attended and lead intensive care unit clinical ward rounds. Attended morbidity and mortality meetings. Mainly worked at Netcare Christiaan Barnard memorial hospital, Mediclinic Cape Town, Mediclinic Milnerton, Netcare Blaauwberg hospital, Melomed Gatesville hospitals and Melomed Mitchell’s Plain hospital.

And I am very grateful to the family of PathCare who have made this journey possible.

I completed my medical training in South Africa including membership of the General Medical Council (UK) and obtained my specialist qualification in medical microbiology (Master of Medicine (Pathology) at the university of Cape Town. This training included a clinical fellowship in the US of A. Upon completion of my specialist training, I then joined the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich Germany where I trained to also get the German qualification in medical microbiology, epidemiology and infection control. After becoming the laboratory director at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute, I also became a specialist in clinical pathology (Laborarzt) by training at in the department of clinical pathology at the Ludwig Maximilians university in Munich at Grosshadern hospital for another year.
